- How do I book a sleeping place? Through the hut reservation system of the Alpine Clubs. There you also get an overview of the available beds and a booking confirmation.
- From when can I book for the season? We open the booking system in December for the coming year.
- The hut is fully booked - what now? You have the option to be placed on a 30-day waiting list. You will be informed if a place becomes available within this period. Otherwise, check if an alternative date could work.
- Will I receive a booking confirmation? Yes, you will receive a confirmation by email.
- Can I modify or cancel my booking? Yes, within the deadlines you can modify or cancel your booking.
- Can I pay with a card? No, currently no cashless payment is possible.
- Can I pay with cash? Yes, we prefer cash.
- When are you open? Usually from March to May on weekends and from late June to October continuously.
- Is there a winter room? Yes, the winter room is locked with a lock from the Alpine Club. Please contact your section if you plan to use it. The winter room is not operated by us.
- Do I need a hut sleeping bag? Yes, a hut sleeping bag is mandatory here.
- What should I bring? Hut sleeping bag, cash or bank card, and possibly earplugs for the night.
- Are there vegetarian or vegan alternatives? Yes, please indicate the option directly when booking.
- Can allergies be accommodated? Yes, we will find a solution. Please state your allergies directly when booking.
- Is there luggage transport? No, we cannot offer this service.
- Can I shower here? No, we do not have showers. Due to the extreme altitude, water is limited.
- Can I cater for myself? Yes, this is generally possible. However, we must charge an infrastructure fee.
- Is there a budget-friendly hut meal? Yes, we follow the Alpine Club rules and offer members a discounted meal.
- How do I dispose of my trash? Due to the extreme altitude, we appreciate you taking the trash back down to the valley and disposing of it at the known stations there. We are happy to provide bags.
- Is there Wi-Fi? Yes, there is public Wi-Fi. Also here: at 3,106 meters, the Wi‑Fi may sometimes be unavailable.
- Are dogs allowed here? Yes, but you must register them in advance.
- What do I need to consider if I want to bring my dog?
Dogs are allowed in the Zittelhaus and, after consultation with the hut warden, also into the room.
Please bring a dog blanket, remember your poop bag, and take it back down to the valley.
Rule: One dog per person.
- Please do not enter the guest room with crampons, microspikes, or spikes.
- Please place your skis and poles in the available holders in the corridor – this is also an escape route.
- Please leave your backpacks in the outer entrance area.
- Please observe the general smoking ban inside the hut and only smoke in the designated outdoor areas.
- Please be mindful of the sensitive air and aerosol measurements at the neighboring observatory.
- Please do not leave trash on the paths or at the building.
- If you plan to self-cater, please coordinate with us.
- Entering, stepping over and roaming around the Sonnblick Observatory building is prohibited.

- Please also note that roof avalanches and ice fall from the roof or tower may occur during your visit.
